How does a speaker in the sound hole affect the guitar's sound?
The simple answer is that it doesn't. A common myth is that the acoustic guitar's sound comes from the sound hole. Plug the hole and all you will get distorted horrible sound. We beg to differ. The guitar's sound comes primarily from the sound board and the acoustic cavity, not the sound hole. The iCoustic system is designed and carefully mounted to minimize loss of sound when the system is not turned on. When the iCoustic system is engaged the difference is unbelievable. Back to FAQ

What about weight? Doesn't this make the guitar feel heavy?
Most players barely notice the additional weight. Our system is designed to provide excllent balance and feel. When installed on a travel guitar the additional weight is similar to a dreadnaught. A small price to pay for the added convenience and features of our iCoustic System. Back to FAQ
Does the speaker interfere with my ability to play the guitar?
The speaker is mounted almost flush with the sound hole. While there is a very small additional elevation the speaker does not interfere with your ability to either pick or strum the guitar. Back to FAQ
How long will the speaker last?
Our speaker cones are made from Aluminum Magnesium and are designed for long term use. As with any speaker much will depend upon care and proper storage of the unit when it is not in play. We believe that you can expect many years of service from these high quality speakers. Back to FAQ
How loud is the speaker?
The iCoustic system contains a volume adjustment and will produce a very impressive sound. However, our system is not designed to provide the amount of amplification you would get from a full external amplifier but rather is designed to amplify both the sound and quality of the natural sound of a guitar. With our system installed your travel guitar will sound much like a full sized dreadnaught guitar. Your dreadnaught will be even more impressive. Back to FAQ
Can I play the guitar without the system turned on?
Absolutely. Because virtually all of the guitars sound comes from the sound board and the acoustic cavity, even with the speaker and system installed, the iCoustic equipped guitar preserves the original high quality sound of the acoustic instrument. Back to FAQ
How long will a battery last?
Our experience indicates that you can expect a high quality alkaline battery to last up to 12 hours depending upon use and conditions. To preserve battery use the guitar is equipped with a 9 volt converter which plugs into the guitar and to any standard 110V electric outlet and can be used at home or anywhere electric outlets are available.
